My favorite stanzas edgar allan poe the raven

 This popular narrative poem is written a first person(using i my or words describing ones selve) pov. ‘The Raven‘ focuses on  the feeling of intense grief and loss, while other symbols throughout the poem reinforce a melodramatic mood that emphasizes the main character’s grief and loss. ‘The Raven’ explores the sadness and frailty scarred individuals face in all walks of life; specifically, the fight one can never ignore, the fight of control over the emotions of grief and loss. These battles are not physical, but leave scarring and bruising just as if they were. Poe has produced a wonderful piece of work that resonates with the feelings and experiences of every reader that comes across this poem.

Lenore:The lover

Quoth:  the ravens name, not a fancy word for quote mind you.

Perhaps a few of my favorite stanzas and their analysis

13th STANZA

This I sat engaged in guessing, but no syllable expressing

To the fowl whose fiery eyes now burned into my bosom’s core;

    This and more I sat divining, with my head at ease reclining

    On the cushion’s velvet lining that the lamp-light gloated o’er,

But whose velvet-violet lining with the lamp-light gloating o’er,

            She shall press, ah, nevermore!

Here poe is now just guessing what is that bird not even speaking much, yet he feels as if he was naked the birds eye could see through him nothing stands against it. While he was sat on his cushion he says She shall press, ah, nevermore. She as in Lenore the dead lover of our protagonist.

14 STANZA

Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer

Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.

    “Wretch,” I cried, “thy God hath lent thee—by these angels he hath sent thee

    Respite—respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore;

Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!”

He stars shouting delirious and annoyed at the bird and starts haluccinating thinking the air going dense and a seraphim, seraphim meaning high ranking angel swinging a censer "Wretch" he cried thy gods had lent thee respite(rest) and nepenthe, nepenthe is a potion in homers oddysey used to quash grief and memories of an deceased love.

I always think that quoth the raven is not even a raven but the personifaction or the pyschical appearence of poes guilt woe and sadness all around.
